Everything about Sollas totally explained

Sollas (Gaelic: Solas) is a small crofting township on the northern coast of the island of North Uist, Scotland.
From Sollas, the road that heads towards Bayhead is known as the Committee Road. It is called this as it was organised by a committee charged with providing famine relief in the 1840s. This part of the Hebrides, now a quiet backwater of many people, like other similar areas throughout the islands hides an extraordinary history.
The village of Sollas has a local supermarket and school. Every July the residents of Sollas enjoy a week of fun and games in the annual 'Sollas Week'.
The people are almost entirely Protestant. The Sunday tradition of quiet worship is somewhat more relaxed than the Sabbaths of Lewis and Harris.
